Courtyard Gardens |
COURTYARD
NUMBER 1:
This is a courtyard created in what was the
old gravelled car park to a pretty country
farmhouse.
We built high brick and stone walls with sturdy
gates to enclose what is now a sheltered seating
area. Wide stone steps with brick beds lead
up to a further larger entertaining space.
A combination of York stone pavers, brick
pavers and gravel was used.

COURTYARD NUMBER 2:
This was an easy commission as it meant
staying in one of the most beautiful
parts of France, La Charente in a stunning
18c house. A scruffy concrete surface
was replaced by white stone tiles and
low beds with lavender edging were created
to house bright geraniums, roses, canna
lilies and summer bedding.
Neat box was used to edge the raised
beds under the windows, and wisteria
planted behind to clothe the white stone
walls. A grape vine stretches overhead
to bring welcome shade in the summer
and the scent of daphnes haunts the
air in spring in this heavenly place.
